Tarpon is looking for an Instrumentation Manager to join our team in Hinton, AB! The ideal candidate will be a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician with several years' supervisory experience and previous PSV experience. This role must have a continual focus on safety, quality, cost control and customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain productive professional relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.
- Liaises and is the key contact for the instrumentation work in this location.
- Participates in employee recruitment.
- Looks for new opportunities and work closely with the Branch and Area Management to enhance and grow the area business.
- Manages costs, productivity, and scheduling associated with the branch and area operations.
- Monitors expenses, inventory, non-chargeable, DSO and budget requirements in the branch on a monthly basis.
- Maximizes manpower and vehicle utilization within the branch and communicates with other areas of Tarpon.
- Supervises the instrumentation team with a focus on mentoring and coaching of employees for skill enhancement and quality of task execution.
- Commit and utilize Tarpon's safety and quality programs.
- Lead by example.
- Ensure employees are trained to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
- Help employees grow and develop and use performance management if necessary.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with other Tarpon branches and departments.
- Ensure premises are kept neat, clean and safe.
- Acts in a manner consistent with Tarpon's core values and according to Tarpon's Code of Business Conduct and Ethical Behaviour.
Requirements
- Journeyman Instrumentation Technician certificate.
- 5+ years Instrumentation Technician experience in an oil and gas/industrial environment.
- 3 - 5 years supervisory experience.
- Travel to customer sites.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license and willing to provide a 3 year driver's abstract current to 30 days.
- Previous PSV experience an asset.
- Ability to establish and maintain a service environment focused on exceeding the customer's expectations.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to monitor employee satisfaction, identify deteriorating situations and take action.
- Developed problem-solving skills sufficient to identify problems, generate solutions and decide on a course of action.
- Ability to evaluate solutions in terms of business, financial and client impacts.
- Knowledgeable in MS Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Demonstrated the ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
